The Founder Roundup Ep. 14

Startup Founder Daily Beehiiv

Building Bridges

In some areas of life, value is unlocked by starting. Even a five-minute workout or a short walk can reset your mood and benefit your body.

In other areas, value is unlocked by finishing. It does you no good to build a bridge halfway across the river. You need to complete the project to realize the value.

Do you need to start or finish? Are you building a body or building a bridge?

Weekly Wisdom

Pause every once in a while and look back. The day to day is so busy, but it is so rewarding to pause as a team and look at the shared story – the story in progress – and how much you have accomplished. Say thanks to each other and what you have most appreciated about the ride. Make it a habit.

Carwan Rasoal, Founder of Genvalues

Finding a job that is in your pay range? Doable. Finding a job that aligns with your values and career goals? Difficult. Genvalues is on a mission to change that.

Genvalues is a product of Carwan’s frustrations with the current job board landscape. A typical job board lets you search by skills and location, but Carwan didn’t think that was good enough.

Carwan saw an opportunity to allow people to filter their job search around team values, work culture, and career path. He has previously worked for leading innovative technology companies and has always dreamed of making a positive impact at scale.

With the new generation seeing a job as more than just a source of income, Carwan created Genvalues to align with market demands.

Genvalues has listed multiple companies and has garnered 2000+ applicants since August 2022.

Carwan calls upon employers to support and empower those who want to follow a meaningful career path.

His goal is to have talent find jobs that they can be satisfied and engaged with, specifically the impact tech industry.

“If startups were easy, everyone would do it. They’re difficult, but that difficulty is what gives you a chance to change the world.”

Dr. Bobbi Wegner, Founder of Groops

The workplace can be stressful when there is a lack of transparency and effective communication. Dr. Bobbi Wegner founded Groops to alleviate that stress, deepen connections, and build better relationships through guided conversations in the workplace.

Dr. Wegner believes that humans are hardwired for group connection. Yet, we are living and working in the most disconnected era in modern history.

On a mission to bring people together, she teamed up with Charlotte Bingaman (VP of Ops) and Casie Cook (Director of Strategy) to form Groops.

Groops brings group psychology experts to the virtual office to provide guided conversations at an affordable price. They aspire to become the global hub of organizational connection that helps people live and work better, together.

Groops is for people-first organizations that want to realize the transformational value of deepening connections and building stronger relationships among their employees.

Already, Groops has some big partnerships underway with global, highly distributed companies. Groops is focused on new customer acquisition and are looking for the right investment partners as they grow.

They are looking for investors who also have a shared interest in the future of work, social wellness, B2B SaaS, and/or wellness.

“To my fellow founder friends, what you feel is normal. The ups and downs are part of the process. Be clear about your values and goals, and make sure to spend time getting your team right. Then, invest in them.”

Luis Barroso, Founder of RootLo

Remote work is here to stay, so why not accommodate for it? Luis Barroso founded RootLo with his diverse, travel-loving team to make remote employees feel more connected with their teams and organizations.

While in South America, Luis met two others who had a shared passion for travel through a digital nomad network. They ended up living together in Buenos Aires to share costs and work on their product.

The team at RootLo understands the challenges that remote work brings and have found a solution. They have developed a tool that helps companies build meaningful relationships across their remote teams, strengthening their culture and productivity.

With RootLo, employees can find co-workers in their area to meet up with, HR can visualize location-trends for their teams, and intelligent search capabilities make it quick to find the best contact in their organization.

All through a Slack app.
